Tips for equipment renters – ensure a pleasant skiing experience
Before hitting the slopes
- Appropriate clothing – Good underwear worn under outdoor clothing is often sufficient. Beginner skiers in particular tend to get hot easily when practicing. The zippers on tracksuits can cause painful pressure marks when inside skiboots.
- Long socks – Good skiing socks are seamless, snug, and long, extending above the top of the boot.
- Headwear - A thin beanie without a pom-pom or a tube scarf are good options to wear under a helmet.
- Weigh yourself – If you plan to ski, we need to know your weight in order to adjust your bindings. If you don't have access to scales, a rough estimate within a range of 5–10 kg is sufficient.
- Schedule – Ski passes and equipment are purchased/rented on an hourly basis, so you can plan ahead how long you want to ski or how long you think you can manage.
- Snowcard - If you already have a Snowcard smart card (for ski passes), take it with you.
At the rental
We need following information when you come to rent skiing equipment
- Are you skiing or snowboarding - important information for a boot type
- What is the size of your foot? The size of your shoe is a good guide when choosing boots. Wool socks are not essential for warmth, and often lead to choosing boots that are too big. One sock is enough. Well-fitting boots ensure comfortable and safe skiing.
- The skier's height is assessed on site. The length of the skis is also selected based on experience. The chin-to-nose axis is generally a suitable measurement, but shorter skis are easier for those with little skiing experience and beginners.
- Tell us your skill level – shorter equipment is easier to control for beginners, while longer equipment provides stability for more experienced skiers. We can also guide you to slopes that are suitable for your skill level.
- The skier's weight is needed to adjust the settings of the ski bindings. The DIN settings is adjusted according to the skier's weight and skill level. Adjusting the correct settings is a safety issue.
- Which foot in front? When snowboarding, the front binding is usually at a greater angle to give the rider better control and a more comfortable position on the board. Goofy = right foot in front, Regular = left foot in front. The most common stance for beginners is the so-called duck stance, which makes it easier to figure out which stance feels more natural for you.
We strongly recommend wearing a HELMET. A good fit is important for safety. The helmet must sit on the forehead, not on the back of the head. You can find the right size helmet by trying it on.
How to work you way in rental
It's easy! Walk in, answer a few questions, and you will first be brought some boots to try on, then the bindings will be adjusted to the right size, a helmet of the right size will be fitted, and, if necessary, poles will be provided.
