Children under 6 years old wearing a helmet, are allowed to ski without a ski pass with an adult.

We use the Snowcard system with a rechargeable smart card, which acts as a lift pass. The Snowcard smart card must be shown to the card reader every time you pass through the lift gate. The card reader can also read the smart card through fabric, e.g., from a sleeve pocket. Thes ski pass is activated (the time starts running) only when you first scan the smart card in the card reader, not at the time of purchase. A new smart card costs €4 each.

Do you want to buy a season pass?

The Joupiska season pass is a great choice if you plan to spend many days on the slopes. It also gives you flexibility with your schedule – you don’t always need to know exactly when, or for how long, you’ll stay. You can purchase the season pass conveniently from our online store. To complete your purchase, you’ll need a Snowcard smart card and the number printed on it.

What is a Snowcard smart card

The SnowCard is a reusable smart card for loading lift tickets, making your ski day smoother. The card works as a contactless lift pass – you can even keep it in your jacket pocket.

Don't have a Snowcard smart card yet?

The SnowCard smart card can be purchased at Joupiska’s ticket office for €4 each. The card is reloadable, so always bring it with you when skiing. If the card is not with you, a new card fee will be charged. It’s a good idea to keep the card in a place where it’s always handy, such as your ski jacket pocket or your car’s glove compartment.

Do you already have a Snowcard smart card?

Snowcard-älykortin tunnistaa yleensä kortin taustapuolelta. Siellä lukee selkeästi Snowcard. Kyseinen hissiporttijärjestelmä on käytössä useammallakin pienemmällä hiihtokeskuksella, eikä kortissa siis välttämättä tarvitse etupuolella lukea Joupiska toimiakseen meillä.

Remote card reader - left or right?

The card reader is located on the left side of the lift gate, so we recommend placing the card in your left pocket for the smoothest possible passage. Many ski jackets have a zippered sleeve pocket on the left sleeve, which is a handy place to slip your card into. Depending on the skier's height, a chest pocket or side pocket may also work. For the smallest skiers, slipping the card into a glove is often a good option.

How to use the lift gate

For those new to skiing, using the lift gate can be confusing and cause anxiety. What if I don't know how to use it and the line just keeps getting longer? These instructions will help you use the lift gate smoothly:
1. Approach the lift gate calmly; don't rush toward the bar. 2. Calmly place your smart card near the black card reader, approximately in the center of the device. You do not need to touch the card to the device, and it will read through the fabric. 3. Wait for the green light to come on. 4. Calmly push the lift gate forward and walk through. Repeat this for the next time and subsequent times.

Trouble with the ski pass?

Is the gate not opening? Check these things first:

  1. Are you showing the correct smart card with the activated ticket to the card reader? Often there are several cards involved and they can get mixed up.
  2. Did you swipe your smart card in the card reader multiple times in a row? The card reader has a one-minute delay, during which the same card cannot be read two or more times. Step aside, wait a minute, and try again.
  3. Leaning on the lift gate– If you try to push the gate open while showing your smart card to the card reader, the gate will lock. Calmly operating the gate usually helps.
  4. Time's up – Maybe skiing was so much fun that time flew by faster than you thought. Once the time on your ticket has expired, the gate will no longer open. Don't worry, you can easily go to the ticket shop and purchase an extra hour for the affordable price of €5.

Our staff will be happy to help you with any problems you may encounter. At the ticket office, we can easily check whether your smart card has been activated for the lift and whether it still has time remaining. Don't hesitate to ask for help!

What does a season mean?

The ski season refers to the period when the slopes are open and the lifts are running. This is usually from early winter (November-December) until spring (March-April).
The season is named after two years, for example, the 2025 season begins at the end of 2025 and ends in spring 2026.
Please note that season passes, gift cards, and promotions are only valid during the season in question. For example, a gift card purchased during the 2024-2025 season will no longer be valid in the fall of 2025 when the new season (2025-2026) begins.
